8 Week Mindfulness Course - Overcome Depression, Anxiety & Worry

Nottingham Mindfulness Group and Samantha Culshaw-Robinson present a new course:

'Living With Mindful Awareness' - an 8 week Mindfulness program. Learn to overcome depression, negative thinking, anxiety & stress.

The original MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) course running in the Nottingham city centre over 8 Wednesday afternoons (plus one Saturday), between Weds 21st June and Weds 23rd Aug 2017.

About The Course
The MBCT program is a popular and widely acclaimed form of Mindfulness training that integrates the principles and practices of modern, secular Mindfulness with some of the key aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The program itself teaches a very straightforward and easy-to-engage-with set of techniques and meditation exercises that can reduce negative thinking, help combat anxiety and stress, and which are proven to be highly effective at preventing the recurrence of clinical depression.

The course consists of 8 friendly, weekly meetings (each meeting is approximately 2 hours long) that are an opportunity for a group of up to 12 people to come together and work alongside each other - under the guidance and support of two trained MBCT teachers - to build a deep and thorough understanding of the MBCT pathway and its methods (including a direct and intimate personal familiarity with the meditation practices). In addition, participants meet with the teachers for a full day of Mindfulness practice on one Saturday during the period of the course.

As well as attending these classes and training sessions, participants in the program should expect to also undertake approximately 40 minutes of home meditation practice (plus other occasional short exercises and reflections) every day, for six days of each week that the course runs.

The weekly classes will be held in two blocks of 4 sessions during June, July and August:

There is a two week break between the two blocks of classes. All the classes will take place in the afternoon starting at 2.30pm, and they will run through to approximately 4.30pm. In addition, there is a full day of Mindfulness practice planned for Saturday 12th August.

The following fees are payable by all participants:

- A deposit of £50
- Then 7 weekly payments of £20 each (paid during the series of meetings)
- Total – £190

Undertaking the MBCT program is a commitment –please note that deposits are not refundable, and anyone taking a place who then withdraws part way through the program will be required to pay at least 50% of the total fees.

Note: this course is not intended to be taken as a replacement for therapy or medical treatment, and it is not appropriate for those with significant current mental health issues unless undertaken with the agreement of healthcare professionals.
